How do some youtube users put good videos of there tv screen onto the computer and upload it to youtube?

Some people take a video camera and record there tv playing but that has bad graphics. Others have videos on youtube that seem to have been recorded using dvd's. For example, a tv show came on a couple of days ago, I missed it, but now I can watch it on YouTube. The video looks excellent. Is there any other way to this besides using a dvd recorder?
