How many movies release to movie theater in a year?

I'm curious... I love to watch movies. I wonder how many movies have been releasing to movie theater in a year?

1. I found the numbers and for this year there will be a total of 323 new film releases in theaters. Pai Kia, your number is way over. In order to reach 500 to 1000, 10 to 20 NEW films would have to be released each week. That just does not happen. Some weeks it's only 1 or 2.
2. It depends on which countries you referring to, if in USA it can be 500-1000 movies per year, popular ones, low and high budgets ones included.
3. there are 55 must see movie in the year 2008.
